The Medical Student Counsel of the Society of Interventional Radiology is excited to introduce a new online mentorship program connecting IR residents, fellows, and attendings with medical students from all over the world. We aim to establish this resource for asking questions and addressing concerns regarding the specialty of interventional radiology and its residency training programs. Additionally we hope medical students will use this resource to inquire about enhancing their IR experiences during pre-clinical and clinical years—whether advice about away electives or applications to establish a greater IR presence at their own programs. By establishing this mentorship program online, students from all over can learn about the specialty from physicians excited to share their experiences.

We will also establish an online database of frequently asked questions (FAQs) answered by one or more volunteer IR physicians. By asking physicians at different stages in training, we hope to provide a comprehensive response to each question asked by medical students.

Please consider joining our mentorship community to help others learn more about the outstanding specialty of IR.

To submit your thoughts, questions, or to obtain a link to the FAQs simply email us at We are excited and very fortunate to have interventional radiology residents, fellows, and attendings on hand to provide a response.
