Johns Hopkins Seldinger Society First Annual Medical Student Symposium

The Seldinger Society, JHU School of Medicine’s Interventional Radiology Interest Group, hosted its first annual Medical Student Symposium in the Chevy Chase Auditorium on April 16, 2016. This successful event featured presentations by IR faculty from Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, George Washington, University of Maryland, and private practice on the new IR residency application process and various advancements in the field, as well as a panel discussion for women interested in IR careers. Around 50 students from medical schools across Maryland, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania attended and also enjoyed a hands-on technology demonstration where they learned catheter skills, embolization techniques, and radiofrequency ablation. The event concluded with a networking session with all symposium students and faculty attendees. The Seldinger Society was excited to bring medical students across the Mid-Atlantic region together for the event and is eager to connect with medical schools across the country to help develop robust networks of students interested in pursuing a career in Interventional Radiology.
